Project Scope

Implement an Asset Tracking Solution across three different site locations: Noida, Gift City Gandhinagar, and Panvel.

Challenges

  • Inventory Visibility: Maintaining real-time visibility of numerous assets across multiple locations.
  • Asset Tracking: Traditional methods were error-prone and time-consuming.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Scheduling and managing maintenance for diverse equipment.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensuring robust security measures and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Asset Lifecycle Management: Monitoring and managing the lifecycle of assets.
  • Disaster Recovery Planning: Developing plans to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.

Solution Implemented

  • Asset Tagging and Registration: All assets in the MyRFID asset tracking system were tagged with RFID tags for self-identification. Assets, including IT peripherals, servers, CPUs, racks, and network switches, were registered using handheld RFID readers.
  • Entrance and Exit Monitoring: RFID antennas and controllers were installed at all data center entrances and exits to track asset flows. Multiple antennas were mounted to cover entry/exit passages, controlled by an RFID controller for each door.
  • Data Integration and Reporting: Raw data (timestamps, location logs) fed into Mantra’s middleware application. Detailed client interface reports on geographic hierarchy, total assets, asset location, and user access. Real-time updates on asset allocation and identification of unregistered assets.
  • System Customization: The MyRFID system was customized to add specific client-required information to the interface.

Outcomes

  • Improved Inventory Visibility: Real-time tracking of assets across multiple locations.
  • Enhanced Accuracy and Efficiency: Automated asset tracking reduced errors and time consumption.
  • Streamlined Maintenance: Better management of maintenance schedules for diverse equipment.
  • Robust Security: Enhanced security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Effective Lifecycle Management: Comprehensive tracking of asset lifecycles.
  • Reliable Disaster Recovery: Comprehensive plans and strategies for business continuity.
